The beauty of Restaurant Week is being able to venture beyond your typical restaurant rotation and try new things. Gourmet restaurants serve multi-course meals at a fraction of their normal prices, giving you the opportunity to finally test them out. But with over 380 restaurants participating this season, the question is, where to begin? Here are some of our favorite picks for Summer 2019’s restaurant week.

Few Restaurant Week deals compare to the one you’ll find at Morimoto. On a regular day, you’d be sure to spend at least $45 for an appetizer and entree, while Restaurant Week nearly cuts the price in half. Plus, you can try a sample of their famed Wagyu steak (normally priced at $120) for a mere $10.

21 Club

Originally opened during Prohibition, 21 Club remains a top destination for New York’s elite. With five stories of restaurants and bars, 21 Club is more of an experience for people who want a taste of old New York than a dining destination. Be sure to check out the Bar Room, where Hemingway was known to occasionally drop in for some tequila.

Baar Baar

Chef Sujan Sarkar reimagines traditional Indian flavors in the context of New York City. His culinary exploration remains true to the culinary legacies of India but adds a fresh, modern flavor to create the city’s first Indian gastro bar. Though not included in the Restaurant Week pricing, the Indian-inspired cocktails are definitely worth trying. In one word, Baar Baar is “vibrant”.

Smoke Jazz & Supper Club

While this venue only offers the $42 dinner option during Restaurant Week, it’s well worth the price––on top of a fine meal, patrons are treated to live jazz music every night. Reserve a table during the first part of the week to avoid an added music charge on Fridays.

Beauty & Essex

Yes, we know that you can get the Beauty & Essex experience in NYC, Las Vegas, or LA. However, entering the speakeasy-style restaurant through their signature pawn shop is always fun––especially when you’re likely to spot countless celebrities on the other side of the wall. If you don’t want to wait until your wealthy friend’s next big birthday celebration to try Beauty & Essex, Restaurantm Week is the perfect time to go. Plus, you can’t beat the complimentary champagne served in the restroom.

So, start booking your reservations––this season’s Restaurant Week ends August 16, 2019. Participating restaurants offer pre-fixe dining deals for lunch (two courses, $26) and dinner (three courses, $42). While drinks, tax, and tip are not included, the experience is well worth it.

Venture out to a new borough, or simply visit the restaurant down the street you’ve been meaning to try — either way, there’s no better time to explore New York’s extensive cuisine than Restaurant Week!
