A great happy hour is comprised of numerous factors, including menu items, happy hour time windows, and, of course, prices. With so many people ready for a post-work drink and so many restaurants to choose from, finding a good bar or restaurant can be tough. Here are the best happy hours in NYC to help get you started.

Marlow Bistro

Marlow Bistro makes wine-filled happy hours affordable with half-off bottle specials Sunday through Tuesday. Located in the Upper West Side, the swanky Mediterranean restaurant also hosts a regular happy hour daily from 3 to 7 PM and includes bargains like refreshing Aperol spritzes for $8.

Heavy Woods

Late-night happy hours are now a thing, and Heavy Woods in Bushwick is no exception. The classic dive bar offers beer and shot combos and $4 well drinks from 3 to 8 PM, plus an exclusive after-hours deal from 12 to 4 AM. Add a half-priced bar snack from the restaurant’s Cajun-inspired menu for the perfect pre-dinner treat.

The Gray Mare

The Gray Mare, located in the East Village, is the ultimate spot for those looking for a six dollar Negroni paired with an Irish pub atmosphere. The bar features a happy hour Monday through Friday that includes $5 draught beers and $10 espresso martinis from 4 to 8 PM.

Fish Cheeks

Sometimes a happy hour is best served at lunchtime. The Noho Thai restaurant Fish Cheeks offers deals from 12 to 3:45 PM and 5 to 7 PM like $1 oysters and $5 beers. Enjoy a few $8 glasses of wine and you may be hungry enough to stick around for a plate of their coconut crab curry.

Shorty’s

We’re already thankful that Shorty’s serves authentic Philly cheesesteaks to the NYC area, but the happy hour specials are an added bonus. With cheap buys like $6 well drinks and $5 bottled beers, you can wash down your sandwich with a gin and tonic while still on a budget. Shorty’s has four Manhattan locations and a recently opened Brooklyn spot near the Barclays Center.

Nowadays

Posh rooftop bars are not ideal for those looking to grab a beverage without breaking the bank. But, thankfully, Nowadays offers a happy hour special to enjoy while taking in the gorgeous outdoor scenery of this Ridgewood hangout. Two-for-one drinks are available on weekdays from 4 to 8 PM and are perfect to sip on while catching one of the venue’s frequent DJ sets.

Clinton Hall

Clinton Hall has five NYC locations and is famous for its weekday happy hour that goes from 11 AM to 7 PM. $6 beers and $7 well drinks can be purchased and thrown back alongside bar snacks like buffalo cauliflower, chicken wings, and giant soft pretzels for just eight bucks.

Jeremy’s Ale House

This FiDi bar puts a unique twist on their happy hour by offering a $1.75 cup of Coors Light called “The Eye Opener” from 8 to 10 AM every weekday. Jeremyโ€™s Ale House also hosts a more traditional happy hour from 4 to 6 PM with $4 buckets of Coors for those who prefer to skip the pre-commute pint.ย

District Social

Pubs and dimly lit dive bars don’t always have to be your happy hour go-to. District Social in Midtown is a great spot for big groups or an evening soiree with the coworkers. The spacious restaurant has $8 cocktails, $7 house wines and $6 well drinks daily from 4 to 7 PM.

Maya

Say goodbye to $15 tequila drinks! This Upper East Side Mexican restaurant boasts a happy hour every day from 4 PM to close with $8 margaritas plus $6 select beers. Discounted food menu items are also on the list, including the delicious $6 bacon-wrapped hot dog called The Maya Dog.
